Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Langley Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Some older PDFs may not meet accessibility standards, for example they may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. This fails several WCAG 2.2 success criteria.
We plan to ensure all non-compliant PDFs are replaced with documents that meet accessibility standards by January 2027.
Disproportionate burden
At the present time, we have not identified any specific issues that would be of disproportionate burden.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix minutes and financial documents prior to 2018.
Documents relating to the Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) are exempt from accessibility regulations as they have been scanned and saved as non-accessible PDFs.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards where necessary.
Live audio and video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
Pre-recorded audio and video
The accessibility regulations do not require us to caption pre-recorded audio and video that was published before 23 September 2020
Third party content
Third party content that is not funded by, developed by, or under the direct control of the parish council is generally exempt from the accessibility regulations, including third-party documents that are not required for active administration processes, unless they come from another public body or organisation that falls within the legislation.
Maps
Maps are exempt from accessibility regulations, although we will provide any essential information in an accessible format like an address.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
Langley Parish Council will carry out regular accessibility checks on the website and will also ensure that all new content meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
We will also act on any feedback that we receive regarding our website, or documents available on the website, not meeting the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
